PT TARUN BHATTACHARYA PERFORMS AT SAI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Eminent Santoor Maestro Pt Tarun Bhattacharya enthralled the students and teachers of SAI International School with a breathtaking performance of Santoor on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. He was accompanied by Pt Prasenjit Poddar, an equally eminent Tabla Player of the country.

Pt Tarun Bhattacharya invented the “mankas” or fine tuners that help tune the 100 stringed Santoor, for longer lasting effect and to a very high degree of accuracy. His innovative techniques of playing the Santoor also facilitates in the playing of Krintans, Ekharatans and Boltans, whereby broadening the utility of the Santoor in various traditional forms of musical artistry.
Considered as one of the most celebrated torch bearers of Indian classical music, Pt Tarun Bhattacharya is known worldwide for his Ragdari, as well as Layakari (mathematical calculations). He is the recipient of numerous felicitations like the 1997 pre-Grammy nomination, excellence in world music USA. He is India’s Global Music Ambassador and considered as one of the pioneer and revolutionary classical musicians

Pt. Prosenjit Poddar is a great Tabla maestro who commands respect internationally both as a soloist and as an accompanist. His composition ‘Sath Sangat’ has made a deep impression in the heart of music lovers and is being cherished by the common and higher echelons of the society all over world.

The artists were highly applauded by everyone for their astounding performance. Senior Principal Shri Nilkantha Panigrahi said that it is a real pleasure to witness such an amazing performance.
