SAIONEERS WIN DADA SAHEB PHALKE AWARD YET AGAIN

A team of students from SAI International School won the Best PSA (Public Service Ad) Award in the School section, at the 7th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, held at Hotel Tivoli Grand Resont, Delhi on Sunday, April 30, 2017. They were given the prestigious award for a short film called “LABELS” which gives out a strong social message on anti discrimination and voices against the societal taboos and stigmas that inflict pain and sufferings in individuals as well as society.

The film reflects the intensity of thought and exceptional creative abilities of the young students in script writing, editing and film making. The team comprising of Milan Machhar, Balaji Patra, Akankshya Acharya, Adyasha Patra, Shreyashree Nayak, Swapna Soren, Shaba Hussain, Shruti Jena and Yatan Bathwal received the award from eminent Film Producers Shri G.L Bharadwaj, Shri Ajay Shara and Shri Nikhil Chaudhury. The festival saw representations from renowned film makers from more than 90 different countries.

The holistic parenting approach of the school is aptly reflected in the diversifies awards the students are conferred with each year. Since 2013, the excellent handholding support and mentoring by experienced faculty had enabled the SAIoneers to win the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival Award every year under various categories. In 2013, the school received the award for “Sakhyam” (Best Film for the student’s category) followed by “The Crib Bumper Project” (Best Documentary short film) and “A Silent Wish” in 2014 (Best script), “The Fairy Tate Wall” (Best Documentary and Best Music Composition) in 2015 and “Easac” (Best Documentary under Student’s category) in 2016.

The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival established in the year 2011, is India’s only independent film festival that aims to recognise the work of aspiring, young, independent and professional film makers. It is organised on April 30 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dada Saheb Phalke, the father of India Cinema. The festival which is open to filmmakers of all age provides opportunity to the new age film makers to showcase their creativity and also to cultivate the future members of the entertainment industry.
